One accident prone family

Well this is an update of the past few weeks so it may be a little long. Thanksgiving was good and Kaliber munched on some yummy family recipes that filled his tummy to the brim. Needless to say he had the mother of all blow outs that night! I'm talking up to his shoulder blades!
He's still a toothless wonder but I'm sure it's bound to happen...sooner or later...
He is moving all over the place and has mastered climbing stairs. A few weeks ago I had a momentarily memory lapse and unbuckled him out of the swing and THEN put his binky on the entertainment center. He took that opportunity to check his flying skills and fell out of the swing onto his head. It was not pretty or quiet for that matter. He cried for about 30 minutes in which during that time I really had myself convinced we should take him to the doctor. He finally calmed down which was a relief and he had a nice little bruise to show on his head. The next week he was standing behind Rem and started to fall and Rem went to catch him by the legs. That didn't work and he ended up doing a sort of summersault over Rem's arm and landed on his head. Rem says he's convinced that Kaliber was going to be a genius but after so many hard knocks on the hardwood floors, he's probably destined to be "average." Poor kid.
Rem is doing really well at the firm and they are pretty impressed with his work. He's in court A LOT and seems to be enjoying it.
I have picked up more hours at the gym and currently work M, T 1-9 and W, TH, F 1-6. It's hard and not fun at times but it does get me out and some time to be "me." Rem comes and gets Kale around 6 and has done a good job of figuring out how to take care of Kale and get him to bed on time etc. The supervisor at the gym has convinced me to become a certified trainer and start working at the gym full time to do that. It looks like I will go ahead and do that. I really enjoy working out and mentoring people on what's best for them. The big plus is I can still bring Kale and all my future kids with me! I miss teaching and such but right now it just doesn't seem like it's something I will go back to. If I had the choice, I still would probably choose to be a personal trainer.
Speaking of the gym, I had a nice little mishap the other day. I was leaving the gym and put Kale in his carseat. My keys fell on the ground and I bent down to get them. As I did this, Kale started crying and I came up real fast to see what the matter was. When I came up I hit my forehead on the bottom corner of the door! I hit it so hard it knocked me on the ground and I sat there and started to cry! I finally gathered my composure enough to get in the car and look at my head. There on my forehead was a nice little cut and a swollen bump! It's been a couple days now and the swelling has gone down but the cut is still there along with a nice bruise. Sigh...I don't think I'll ever grow out of being clumsy! LOL
Well, I said it would be long and it looks as though I carried through with my word. We are headed to NM for Christmas so hopefully I'll get some good pictures there to show you. Heck, maybe I'll even have a tooth to show you!

Such a Ham!

Now that Kaliber is almost 8 months, he is getting such a fun personality! We were hanging out playing on his mat Saturday night when he decided to get adventurous. He layed down on his back and pulled the mat over his head. While he did that, all the puzzle pieces fell out so he could see there was a hole in the mat. Kale then decided he could crawl through the mat easy as pie. Quickly he found out that the mat had become apart of him and he crawled around the living room floor frantically trying to get the mat piece off of him. When he finally realized he couldn't do it on his own, he turned to me and did his new and hilarous "O" face. Kale let me know exactly how he felt about his entrapment and wanted my help ASAP. He's such a hoot to be around and is starting to ham it up for everyone he sees. I can't wait to see what he does next month that'll make everyone laugh and coo!

Please God let it be Teething!

So here I am at an hour I haven't seen since my teaching days. Why? Because Kaliber is...I don't know....teething...being difficult...or something to that effect. As you can see by the drool spot in the picture above, it probably is teething. In any case, I want to scream out "when are my days of sleepless nights, crankiness, diaper rash, and drool going to be over?!" Then I realize, not for the next 18 + years. Then I get even a little more depressed because I still have Rem in his old age. LOL Oh well, such is life. This too shall pass. For now, I'll just sit back and enjoy my drool covered wood floors, waking up to cuddle with Kale, laughing when he's cranky, and paste on the diaper rash cream.

Okay, so I'm kinda combining halloween pictures with Kaliber's 6 month pictures. I have a ton more of his 6 month pictures but really don't have the space to put them all on. Anyway, Kale's first Halloween was pretty great. He was a little hot dog and everyone got a big ol' kick out of it. We took him to the trick or treating on the trails which is a community shin dig. After that was all said and done, Grandma and Grandpa Dalke came and got our lil' hot dog and took him to Hutchinson. This was the first night Kale was away from us and boy was it weird! We dressed up as an 80's couple (thanks Meghann for the great hair!) and headed to a co-worker's Halloween party. Rem and I got in around 1 am and WE slept through the night! It was so weird to sleep and not have a baby to worry about. Needless to say, I still woke up WAY tired. I guess my brain was still on the baby even though he wasn't there. Grandma Dalke said that when she fed him his breakfast he was looking around and saying "mama? mama?" Kale was sooooo excited to see us which, totally melted my heart! I have to say, this was probably the best Halloween I've had in years. Dressing up takes on a whole new meaning when you have a baby to play doll with. hehehe

Oh what fun we had at the corn maze!

Friday night we ventured out into the vast plains and conquered a corn maze! My side of the family gathered together to do this quest which turned out to be really fun. At first I wasn't too sure I'd like it. I'm not too hot on the idea of wondering around in areas where there is only one way out. Thank goodness we found my uncle and he lead us through the maze in nothing flat! Kale had a blast running with Rem through the corn. He laughed and blew snot everywhere. We can't wait till next year when he will be walking around and he can toddle through the maze with us.

A visit from old friends

My best friend from Abq came down to visit this past weekend. She was in Waco when Kale was born so it was real nice for her to see him again. We had a lot of fun! Friday we had a girls night out. Saturday we went to Wichita and played putt putt. Sunday we went to a baseball field and shot rockets off. Kale had a lot of fun playing with Cody (Heidi's son) and going to the miniature golfing range with his older cousin Jaron. It's amazing how much he has changed and learned in the past month! He is crawling everywhere, curious about everything that isn't a toy, says MAMA, and definately has his own ideas of what he wants. I cannot wait to see what the next word out of his mouth will be. Rem is in denial and says he is really saying Dada. Maybe that'll be his next word...
The weather out here is finally cooling down which means we get to bundle up in sweaters and great stuff like that. I'm sooooo glad we get to experience seasons again. Kale just battled his first real virus and ear infection. It took a few days but he is finally back to his normal cute adorable self.

My Daddy's an Official Lawyer

As of September 26th Remington is an official lawyer! We traveled up to Topeka on Friday to watch Rem get sworn in. It was a pretty special ceremony and we are so proud of him!! Kale did very well (except for the major stink bomb he had in the middle of the ceremony.) While we were in Topeka we toured the capitol and went up in the 3rd highest dome in the nation. Let me tell you, I will never do that again! I don't think it was the heights that bothered me as much as the closed in space. Kale also turned 6 months on Friday. He is growing so big. He laughs at everything Rem does! He's crawling and scooting around like an old pro and he sits in the grocery cart seat like a big boy. He's sooo much fun! Ontop of keeping up with Kale and all his milestones we have also retiled our kitchen floor and remodeled our bedroom. I think I may be done with projects for awhile....

Moving along

Kale is just moving a long so quickly! He got to go on his first zoo trip on Labor Day. He really enjoyed staring at the animals and found a complete fascination with a bull looking thing. He is also rolling over front to back, sitting on his own, and crawling! Well...it's not so much a crawl as it is a face in the floor butt in the air scooting. He also got his first highchair booster seat and is enjoying eating his food from an upright position. It's hard to believe he's already 5 1/2 months! It really seems like last week he was born. We're currently calmly awaiting Rem's BAR scores and are excited to go to the swearing in on the 26th! Kale and I are also taking a trip with Aunt Meghann and cousin Jaron on the 19th. Lots of new things for our little boy! He's loving every moment and so are we. :)

Kale's first bike ride

Kale had his first bike ride at Kanopolis lake today! We didn't ride around long with him but he sure did seem to enjoy the wind in his hair. I was alittle hesitant at first seeing as he is just now getting the hang of sitting up and who knows what would happen if that thing tipped over. It all turned out wonderful and now we don't have an excuse to not go bike riding. It won't be too long before he'll be pedaling right next to us.

Oh the things he can do!

Kaliber is five months now and growing like a weed! He can roll over both ways and rolls everywhere. Now that he can roll himself over he has figured out that he can get his little legs under his booty and maybe doing something with that. So, I believe I may have a crawler here in the next couple of weeks! My brother just got married a couple of weekends ago and now has a one year old to show Kale the ropes on how to be mobile. Kale's having a lot of fun having his new cousin around. They're so cute and curious about eachother!

Kale's First Vacation

We got to go to Texas this past weekend for Kale's Uncle's wedding. It was Kale's first vacation and he did wonderful!! We were very busy with wedding stuff but got the opportunity to go to the Stockyards. There Kale got to ride his first mechanical horse, see a real horse, and also see a real cowboy. He had a lot of fun with his Grandma and Grandpa Roe and his Great Aunt Luanne! I see many more vacations in our future!! When all was said and done, he got to soak in a nice warm bath and remember all the good times he had. :)

Loving the new toys!

I finally made myself put together Kaliber's activity center! Boy am I glad I did. He absolutely loves it! His new favorite thing is to try and reach all the little toys on the side and put them in his mouth. You can imagine how funny this looks being as the toys don't go anywhere and the seat only allows Kale to go so far. Needless to say, his attempts usually result in him grunting and "telling" the toys how it is.

Life in Lyons

So I am quickly realizing there in nothing to do here in Lyons. Kale and I go on walks, clean the house, play with the dogs, and learn all about the new world he's entered. No, there is nothing to do in Lyons. But who needs a mall, movies, clubs, or any of that stuff when you can sit around and stare at this face all day?! Life in Lyons is dull outside of our four walls and I like it that way.

Kale's first swim experience

Kale had his first swimming experience today. He absolutely loved the water. He kicked and cooed his way into a sleepy stuper. Grandpa Dalke had fun taking him around the shallow end to explore the vast waters.

A first time for everything!

Today Kale tried out his jumper seat. You can see here that he didn't really know what to make of this new contraption he was sitting in. As he teetered back and forth trying to figure out why I had put him in this thing, I had to wipe a tear from my eye. My little boy is growing up and trying new things...sigh. Once he realized he could swing in it that's all he really did. He'll realize it's really for jumping soon. Until then, swing on little man, swing on!
